A web browser is a software application for retrieving and presenting information resources found on the World Wide Web. The retrieved information resource may be a web page, image, video, or other piece of content. Each information resources is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). Information resources on the web typically contain hyperlinks pointing to related resources. Clicking on the hyperlink will direct the web browsers to the related resource, thus allowing users to "navigate" from link to link. Browsers generally also include a back-arrow allowing navigation back to previously-read pages. In addition to accessing resources on the World Wide Web, web browsers can also read any information sources in the correct format, such as files located on the user's own computer, or on servers in private networks. The major web browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, and Opera. ==External Links== *Wikipedia article about web browsers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_browser [[Category:Webuser tools]] [[Category:Web protocols]] [[Category:Draft]]
